Dental Insurance Wauwatosa
Affordable Dental Care Made Easy
There is no need to become overwhelmed by your dental insurance plan. Instead, you can call our dental office and speak to a member of our team who will be happy to discuss your policy, go over your available coverage, and find ways to maximize your dental insurance benefits here at Elmbrook Family Dental of Wauwatosa.
Understanding How Dental Insurance Works
When compared to other dental practices, the benefits your dental insurance is based on may readily align; however, we are not like these other offices. We offer additional services and use advanced technologies that are designed to enhance patients’ experiences and provide a higher level of care.
Because of this, the “reasonable and customary fees” associated with your plan are unlikely to match the kind of top-of-the-line care we believe is necessary for our patients to receive.
When using your dental insurance, you’ll want to make a note of your annual maximum, which is the most your insurance company will pay in a single calendar year for treatment. If you leave any available funds behind at the end of the year, you will lose them, so you can expect our team to help you get the most out of your plan.
What Does Dental Insurance Cover?
Each dental insurance plan is different, which is why we offer a complimentary benefits review when becoming a new patient of our dental office.
Most plans, though, build their benefits on a 100-80-50 model. This means that for many companies, preventive care is covered at 100%, minor restorative treatment is covered at 80%, and major restorative treatment is covered at 50%. This is not always the case, so you’ll need to make sure that you review your policy or have a member of our team do it on your behalf.
You will notice that cosmetic dentistry is not covered, and orthodontics may require a separate, individual plan. For any service not covered by dental insurance (i.e., cosmetic care, dental implants, etc.), you can apply for flexible financing through one of our third-party partners, like CareCredit. There is also the option of using any existing HSA funds to cover the cost of certain treatments such as teeth whitening.
Using Dental Insurance at Our Practice
We know surprises related to your dental care are not welcome, which is why we will always go over your out-of-pocket expenses before starting treatment. When using dental insurance, you will be expected to pay your portion on the day of your visit. If another payment arrangement has been made before this time, please let us know.
Our insurance specialist will make sure that all the necessary paperwork and imaging are provided to your insurer when filing your claim; however, if your provider does not agree to pay their portion, you will be billed the remaining balance.
